Dr. Tyler Patak, NCARB, AIA, CPD, LEED AP

Dr. Tyler F. Patak holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and Master and Doctorate degrees in Business Administration from California Coast University. He is a practicing architect and Principal at Parker/Mudgett/Smith Architects located in Fort Myers, FL.

Dr. Patak has been a CPTED Practitioner over ten years. In 2013 he was one of the first 20 individuals nationwide to attain the CPTED Professional Designation. He has published several articles, performed Security Reviews on a variety of proposed and existing building and park types, and has testified as an Expert Witness.

Dr. Patak has served continuously since 2006 on the Board of Directors of the FL Design Out Crime Association which is CPTED’s professional organization. He currently serves as its Vice President, Region 4 Director, and Architectural Liaison.

Art Hushen, CPD, FCP – President, National Institute of Crime Prevention (Moderator) Art Hushen is the President/Owner of the National Institute of Crime Prevention (NICP, Inc.), a global training and consulting company specializing in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. (CPTED)  He implemented CPTED strategies into security and design reviews of commercial buildings, schools, multi family housing, and residential communities. As President of NICP, Inc. he continues a similar process of implementing CPTED concepts and strategies at a national level through training programs and consulting with various government, private sector, and nonprofit groups.
